The sixth edition of field tests for candidates of the PMM Emergency Medical Team took place in Nadwarciański Gród, Załęcze Wielkie. Over the course of 24 hours, 20 participants were challenged with realistic simulations reflecting conditions during natural disasters, armed conflicts, and epidemics – all under pressure, in both day and night scenarios.
This final stage of a multi-phase recruitment process aimed to assess not only medical competence, but also mental resilience, teamwork, and the ability to operate in unpredictable and demanding field conditions. One of the key elements was a mass-casualty simulation, made possible thanks to the dedicated participation of the Volunteer Fire Brigade from Dzietrzniki, who served as realistic mock victims. Before the field tests, candidates also took part in specialized training on the new LIFEPAK defibrillator – essential equipment during life-saving interventions in the field.
PMM EMT is a Type 1 (fixed and mobile) emergency medical team currently undergoing WHO certification. Once certified, the team will be ready to deploy globally within 24–48 hours and operate independently for a minimum of two weeks. So far, PMM EMT has taken part in missions in countries such as Uganda, Jordan, Tanzania, and Iraq.
Test results are now being reviewed. Candidates will soon learn whether they have qualified to join the team. PMM EMT continues to recruit doctors, paramedics, nurses, and psychologists willing to work in extreme conditions and provide medical aid where it is most urgently needed.
