Providing free medical and dental assistance for Syrian refugees and resettled Iraqi families in camps in Iraq.
Years of brutal conflicts have led to prolonged displacements and significant humanitarian challenges. Political instability and unrest, exacerbated by regional tensions, including those related to natural resources, have increased instability and the risk of descending into domestic conflict. Insufficient state resources are being utilized to provide basic medical care, while there is a gap in all other specialized services.
For over 8 years, millions of Iraqis have been internally displaced. The majority of them live in cities and camps in Kurdistan and the Ninewa province in Iraq. Those residing in camps have access only to basic medical assistance. There are no internists, pediatricians, dentists, or pharmacists available. There is also a shortage of medications, diagnostic laboratories, and health education.
Polish Medical Mission, as the only organization in Poland, has been present with humanitarian efforts in the health sector in Iraq since 2016.

In the Baharka and Darashakran camps, there are centers for basic medical care, gynecological clinics, and dental offices. The Seid Hamad health center provides gynecological care for women, free medications, and laboratory services. A mobile clinic with doctors, including internists and pediatricians, nurses, and a pharmacist, conducts medical consultations at the primary healthcare center in the Baharka camp for internally displaced Iraqi families, covering approximately 4800 camp residents, mainly women, children, persons with disabilities, and the elderly. In the Hasansham camp, there is a center for basic medical care along with a gynecological clinic.
Winterization actions are carried out, involving preparations for the winter season. Every year, warm clothing, blankets, and footwear are distributed to camp residents. Home visits are conducted for refugees, providing education on avoiding infectious diseases and promoting good health practices. A mobile clinic reaches rural areas in the Erbil governorate, offering medical consultations, screening examinations for early disease detection, and medical education.
