About PMM

Polish Medical Mission Association is a non-governmental organization that was set up in 1999.
The founders of the Polish Medical Mission are:

  • Medycyna Praktyczna publishing house

  • State Fire Service

  • Doctors of Hope Association.
  • The fundamental objectives of Polish Medical Mission are the organization, co-ordination of and participation in humanitarian actions, also prepared by other entities for the benefit of the victims of catastrophes, wars and other events endangering human life and health; in particular by means of providing medical assistance in Poland and abroad.

    The members of the PMM are:

  • doctors of all principal medical specialities,

  • nurses (male and female) and medical rescuers,

  • other persons professionally associated with health care (physical therapists, medical analysts, psychologists etc.).

  • They all participate in the work of the association on voluntary basis.

    The association pursues the following objectives:

  • humanitarian medical aid,

  • medical assistance to the victims of wars,

  • training of medical staff and of civilians in basic health care, and basic and advanced life support,

  • reconstruction of the healthcare system in the areas ravaged by wars and natural and man-made disasters.

    Polish Medical Mission administers a medical rescue unit, Polish Field Hospital, which takes care of emergency medical assistance to the victims of natural and man-made disasters. PFH was set up by polish government in 2003. The unit acts in Poland and abroad, taking part in international rescue actions.

    The Hospital contains 7 tents: operation room, intensive-care stands, internal, pediatric, gynaecological-maternity and traumatic outpatient rooms, RTG&USG diagnostic laboratory, medical laboratory, pharmacy and transportation group. PFH provides all activities from specialistic consultation to state of life risk surgery. Patients get complex medical care, free treatment and medicines.
